Stuart Klein retired on November 3 after 18 years as Executive Director of the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute. Faculty and staff at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute celebrated his retirement at an appreciation luncheon on September 26.
After a remarkable career that spanned 12 years, we bid a fond farewell to Heather Oakley, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, who retired in October, and welcome Tamara Sorrye, LMHC-QS. Tamara joins our team as Director of Social Services.
In his distinguished career as a journalist, author and entrepreneur, Bruce Horovitz is skilled in finding, researching and writing stories – asking questions and finding answers. Asking questions and finding answers became an even more important part of his life during his prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Breast cancer survivor, Pam Reckner, and the Mammoglams compete in races against other teams in Florida and in places as far away as Italy and New Zealand. In New Zealand this year, the team went from 56th to 13th in the world in the breast cancer survivor’s division of Dragon Boat racing.

Tamara Sorrye, LMHC-QS

Ms. Sorrye is responsible for assisting patients and their families with the psychological, social and financial aspects related to their diagnosis and treatment. Her responsibilities will encompass facilitating various patient and caregiver support groups at the Institute, as well as providing short-term counseling. She has practiced in the field of oncology social services for more than 15 years.
