Halloween Featured Goodies, Games and Costumes
Dozens of children who dressed as superheroes, princesses and spooky characters gathered a bounty of candy, games, prizes and toys as they took part in the Oct. 31 Halloween tradition at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute.
Every department of the Institute got involved in making it a special experience for the children who were here for cancer treatment as well as for their siblings and parents. Conference rooms and hallways were decorated with creative themes such as Candyland and Fall Festival. As the group of children “trick-or-treated” their way through the building, staff members in costumes greeted them along the way and handed out goodies. The creative and fun-loving staff wore outfits ranging from 1950’s rock-n-roll fans, prehistoric creatures and pop culture icons to pirates, starfish and lovable characters from popular animated movies.
The group arrived in the community room to enjoy traditional fall festival games, such as ring toss and beanbag throw, and to paint miniature pumpkins.
Several adult patients volunteered to help with the festival games and activities.
The Halloween tradition brought smiles and good-hearted cheer to everyone, thanks to the selfless volunteerism of staff and patients and the generous gifts of donors.
