Dr. Samuel Jean-Baptiste Joins the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute
Physician’s Expertise Includes Treating Brain, Lung and Prostate Cancer
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Oct. 4, 2024) – The UF Health Proton Therapy Institute is pleased to announce Samuel Jean-Baptiste, MD, MS, is now a physician at the cancer treatment center. He specializes in treating brain, lung and prostate cancer. Dr. Jean-Baptiste is also an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Florida.

Dr. Jean-Baptiste has a depth of experience in patient treatment and clinical research for cancers of the lung, prostate, central nervous system, head and neck, and gastrointestinal system. Additionally, he serves as section head of Biomedical Informatics for the Department of Radiation Oncology.
“We are delighted Dr. Jean-Baptiste has joined our team,” said Kristin Heath, UF Health Proton Therapy Executive Director. “He is dedicated to improving patient outcomes and reducing the risks of radiation side effects which is what proton therapy cancer treatment is all about,” Heath added.
His expertise includes biomedical informatics, with particular interest in clinical informatics, personalized medicine, improving equity in global cancer care and addressing cancer health disparities in minority groups. He uses artificial intelligence to uncover complex interactions in large cancer datasets.
Dr. Jean-Baptiste completed his medical training at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and radiation oncology residency at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident.
