Dr. Hsi is an assistant professor in the department of radiation oncology at the University of Florida. An expert in medical physics for proton and carbon-ion radiotherapy, he has commissioned three different particle-beam delivery systems at four proton centers in the U.S. and one proton/carbon-ion center in China. He is currently preparing measurement and data analysis tools for commissioning the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute’s new single-room system equipped with pencil beam scanning proton beam. Dr. Hsi has published numerous studies on both proton and carbon-ion radiotherapy, and is currently investigating the Linear-Energy-Transfer effect and the Radiation Biological Effectiveness, or LET/RBE, at depth near the distal edge of proton penetration.
